This diagnostic code is recorded when the implement ECM is not receiving the necessary parameters from the Caterpillar Monitoring System.

Possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed:

  • The Caterpillar Monitoring System does not provide the harness code to the implement ECM.

  • The Caterpillar Monitoring System does not provide the temperature of the hydraulic oil to the implement ECM.

  • The software between the implement ECM and the Caterpillar Monitoring System is not compatible.

System Response:

The machine response is listed:

  • All functions may be disabled.

Note: Attempt to communicate with ET software. Flash the software to the implement ECM if the ET will not communicate.

Note: Ensure that the diagnostic code is active.

Test Step 1. CHECK FOR THE COMPATIBILITY OF THE SOFTWARE.

  1. For the correct software part numbers, refer to the Electronics Groups in the parts manual for the machine that is being serviced .

Expected Result:

The software is compatible.

Results:

  • YES - The software is compatible. Proceed to Test Step 2.

  • NO - The software is not compatible.

    Repair: Install the correct software. If any modules have been replaced, ensure that the correct part number was used.

    If this does not resolve the problem, proceed to Test Step 2.

Test Step 2. VERIFY THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE IS PRESENT.

  1. Turn the key start switch to the OFF position.

  1. Turn the disconnect switch to the OFF position.

  1. Remove connectors J1 and J2 from the ECM. Check for connector damage or corrosion. Reconnect connectors J1 and J2 .

  1. Turn the disconnect switch and the engine start switch to the ON position.

  1. Clear all inactive diagnostic codes.

  1. Operate the machine.

  1. Ensure that the diagnostic code is active.

Expected Result:

The diagnostic code is not active.

Results:

  • YES - The diagnostic code is not active.

    Repair: The diagnostic code is not active now. Disconnecting and reconnecting the connector corrected the code.

    Stop.

  • NO - The diagnostic code is active.

    Repair: For additional information about troubleshooting this diagnostic code, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Caterpillar Monitoring System" for the machine that is being serviced.

    Stop.
