Personal injury can result from air pressure. Personal injury can result without following proper procedure. When using pressure air, wear a protective face shield and protective clothing. Maximum air pressure at the nozzle must be less than 205 kPa (30 psi) for cleaning purposes. |
Personal injury or death can result from a fire. Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. Clean up all leaked or spilled fuel. Do not smoke while working on the fuel system. Turn the disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters. |

Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Raise the hood for the engine compartment.

- Remove the fuel tank cap assembly. Remove the strainer.

- Wash the fuel tank cap assembly in clean, nonflammable solvent. Wash the strainer in clean, nonflammable solvent.
- Allow the fuel tank cap assembly to dry. Use pressure air to dry.
- Install the strainer. Install the fuel tank cap assembly.
- Unlatch the rod for the hood support. Close the hood for the engine compartment.
