570B Wheel Harvester and 580B Wheel Harvester Engine Supplement Caterpillar

Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Prepare the machine for disassembly and assembly procedures. For additional information, refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Preparation for Disassembly".

1. Open the hood. For additional information, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Tilt Hood".

2. Remove bolts (2), the washers, and fan guard (1) .

3. Remove bolts (3), the washers, fan (4), and fan adapter (5) .

4. Release the tension on belt tensioner (7). Remove serpentine belt (8) from fan pulley (6) .

5. Remove bolts (16) and fan pulley (6) .

6. Remove bolts (14), the washers, and bearing bracket (17) .

7. Remove grease fitting (15) .

8. Remove bolts (19) and plate (18). Remove fan shaft (9) from bearing bracket (17) .

9. Remove bolts (10), the washers, and bearing retainer (11) from bearing bracket (17) .

10. Remove O-ring seal (12) and roller bearing (13) from bearing bracket (17) .

Installation Procedure

1. Install roller bearing (13) and O-ring seal (12) in bearing bracket (17) .

   Note: Apply a thin layer of Tooling (A) on the outside of roller bearing (13) and O-ring seal (12) .

2. Install grease fitting (15) .

3. Install bearing retainer (11), bolts (10), and the washers on bearing bracket (17) .

4. Install fan shaft (9) in bearing bracket (17). Install plate (18) and bolts (19) on fan shaft (9).

5. Apply approximately 50 grams of Tooling (A) in the cavity between bearing bracket (17) and fan shaft (9). Install bearing bracket (17), bolts (14), and the washers.

6. Install fan pulley (6) and bolts (16) .

7. Release the tension on belt tensioner (7). Install serpentine belt (8) on fan pulley (6) .

8. Install fan adapter (5), fan (4), bolts (3), and the washers.

9. Install fan guard (1), bolts (2), and the washers.

10. Close the hood. For additional information, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Tilt Hood".
