Boom Winch Motor - Disassemble

Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the boom winch motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Boom Winch Motor - Remove" for the correct procedure.


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

  1. Drain the oil from the drive motor.

  1. Remove O-ring seal (1) and O-ring seal (2) .

    Note: Mark the cover and the gear housing for assembly purposes.

  1. Remove bolts (3) and the washers. Remove cover (4) .

  1. Remove pocket seals (5). Remove seal (6) .

  1. Remove thrust plate (7) .

    Note: Mark the location of the gear set for assembly purposes.

  1. Remove gear set (8) .

  1. Remove gear housing (9) .

  1. Remove seal (10), and pocket seals (11). Remove thrust plate (12) .
