VFS50 and VFS70 Versatile Flotation System Caterpillar


Belt - Check Alignment

Usage:

VFS70 7XN

  • Load the trailer with the amount of weight that would be used during normal roading operations.

    1. Make sure that the axle pads are shimmed properly for the intended load. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Axle Pads - Shim" for the correct procedure.

    1. Pull the trailer to an area that is smooth and level.

    1. Pull the trailer as straight as possible for a distance of at least 15 m (50 ft).

    1. Stop the trailer. Place blocks at the front idler. Then place the blocks at the rear idler.

    1. Inspect the clearance that is between the first pair of midwheels and the outside surface of the nearest guide block that is on one belt.

    1. The alignment is correct if clearance exists on both sides of the nearest guide block.

    1. There should be clearance between both surfaces of the nearest guide block and the midwheels. If additional clearance is needed between the midwheels and the guide block, perform the procedure that is in Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Belt - Align".

    1. Inspect the clearance that is between the first pair of midwheels and the outside surfaces of the nearest guide block on the other belt.

    1. The alignment is correct if clearance exists on both sides of the nearest guide block.

    1. If clearance does not exist on both surfaces of the nearest guide block, perform the procedure that is in Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Belt - Align".
