Usage:

D400E II APF
D400E Series II machines have seven forward gears and one reverse gear.

The transmission control is located on the console on the right side of the operator's seat. The control includes the following switches:

  • Neutral lock switch (1)

  • Transmission hold switch (2)

  • High gear selector switch (3)

The transmission control has six positions. Neutral lock switch (1) must be pressed in order to move the control out of neutral or into neutral. The switch does not need to be used in order to move from one forward position to another forward position.

When transmission hold switch (2) is pressed, the transmission will remain in the selected gear and indicator (4) on the dash will illuminate. Protection against engine overspeed will still be available. When the switch is pressed again, the transmission will resume shifting and the indicator will no longer be illuminated.

High gear selector switch (3) is used to set a limit for upshifts. The engine must be running and the transmission control must be in the D position in order for you to select a limit. Depress the switch and hold the switch for five seconds. Indicator (5) will display the following choices:

  • "4F" for FOURTH GEAR

  • "5F" for FIFTH GEAR

  • "6F" for SIXTH GEAR

  • "7F" for SEVENTH GEAR

When the desired gear is displayed, release the switch. The indicator will display the selected gear for four seconds. After four seconds, the indicator will display the actual gear that is in operation. The transmission will operate with a high gear limit until the machine is shut off or until another gear is preselected. Protection against engine overspeed will still occur.
