Safety Signs and Labels

Usage:

There are several specific safety signs and labels on this machine. The exact location of the hazards and the description of the hazards are reviewed in this section. Please become familiarized with all safety signs and labels.

Make sure that all of the safety signs are legible. Clean the safety signs or replace the safety signs if you cannot read the words. When you clean the safety signs, use a cloth, water and soap. Do not use solvent, gasoline, or other harsh chemicals to clean the safety signs. Solvents, gasoline, or harsh chemicals could loosen the adhesive that secures the safety signs.

Replace any safety sign that is damaged, or missing. If a safety sign is attached to a part that is replaced, install a safety sign on the replacement part. Any Caterpillar dealer can provide new safety signs.

Do Not Weld on the ROPS

This safety sign is located on the ROPS.

------ WARNING! ------

Structural damage, an overturn, modification, alteration, or improper repair can impair this structure's protection capability thereby voiding this certification. Do not weld on or drill holes in the structure. Consult a Caterpillar dealer to determine this structure's limitations without voiding its certification.

Do not touch the boom. Do not lean on any part of the boom. Do not allow any other person to touch the boom. Do not allow any other person to lean on the boom.

Do not Stand Under the Load

Jumper Cable Connections

This safety sign is located on the inside of the engine enclosure.

Improper jumper cable connections may cause an explosion resulting in personal injury. Batteries may be located in separate compartments. When using jumper cables, always connect positive (+) cable to positive (+) terminal of battery connected to starter solenoid and negative (-) cable from external source to starter negative (-) terminal. (If not equipped with starter negative terminal, connect to engine block.) Follow procedure in the Operation and Maintenance Manual.

Inadvertent Attachment Movement

Inadvertent attachment movement can result in injury or death. Use only attachment which are fitted with devices that will prevent attachment movement in case of hydraulic line failure.

Do Not Operate

There are two locations for this safety sign. One of the safety signs is located on the control panel of the access platform. The other safety sign is located on the side panel of the operator compartment.

Level the Machine

If the machine on which this attachment is installed is not leveled, or if the wind speed exceeds 45 km/h (28 mph) a tipping condition could occur. This could cause injury or death. Do not operate the machine if the frame is not leveled or if the wind speed exceeds 45 km/h (28 mph).

Manufactured Machines, or Properly Modified Machines for use with Access Platforms

Machines that have not been Manufactured, or Modified for use with Access Platforms

This machine is not equipped for use with an access platform. Operating an access platform on a machine that is not manufactured or modified for use with an access platform could cause injury or death.

Do not use this machine with an access platform attachment.

Maximum Weight that is Allowed on Access Platform

This attachment must not carry more than two operators. The maximum weight that can be carried on the access platform must not exceed 250 kg (550 lb). The maximum weight that can be carried includes operators, tools and equipment.

If an excessive manual force is imposed on an access platform attachment, the stability of the machine can be reduced. This could result in personal injury or death. Manual force is the force that is imposed on the access platform by the action of the operator to pull on an external object and to push on an external object. Manual force is also the force that is imposed on the access platform by the access platform coming into contact with an external object. Do not apply a manual force in excess of 400 N (90 lb) to this access platform.

Avoid Power Lines

There are two locations for this safety sign. One of the safety signs is located on the control panel of the access platform. The other safety sign is located inside the cab above the windshield.

------ WARNING! ------

To avoid injury or death by electrocution keep machine and attachment at least 8 meters (25 ft) away from electric power lines. Always check for power lines before raising boom.
