  • Check the following switches. The switches must be in the proper position.

    • The parking brake switch must be set to the OFF position.

    • The feeder auto/manual controls must be set to the AUTO position.

    • The vibratory controls on the operator station and the screed control box should be in the ON position.

    • The screed hoist control should be in the LOWER position.

    • Refer to the Owner's Manual, KEBU6897 for setup procedures.

    1. Hold the throttle control upward until the engine reaches maximum rpm.

    1. Push the propel lever completely forward.

    1. Slowly turn the speed potentiometer until the paver reaches the desired ft/min. When you reach the correct ft/min, starts and stops should be done with the propel lever.

Note: The brakes on the truck must be released enough to allow the paver to push the truck. There must be enough braking in order to keep the truck from rolling away from the paver.

    1. Turn the vibratory control on the screed to the ON position. To achieve the desired finish, adjust the speed of the vibrator.

    1. Check the head of material at the auger conveyor. Adjust the control for the feeder gates in order to keep the head of material at the middle of the shaft of the auger conveyor.

A material shortage will occur at the outer edges of the screed, if the sensors are moved too far.

Moving the sensors outward will increase the outward flow of the material. If you move the sensors too far, the material will flow around the end plates.

    1. Check the mat thickness at several places across the mat. Make any adjustments to the controls that are needed.

Note: Do not adjust the controls too often. Allow at least three lengths of the tow arm. This allows the adjustment to take effect before making another adjustment. Whenever you make an adjustment, do not turn the thickness control more than 360 degrees at a time.

    1. For manual adjustments for the thickness, turn the thickness control clockwise in order to increase the thickness of the mat and turn the thickness control counterclockwise in order to decrease the mat thickness. If you are using the automatic controls, do not turn the manual adjustments under normal operating conditions.
