Steering Cylinder - Install

Usage:

D250E II 4PS

Installation Procedure

  1. Inspect all parts and clean all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

  2. Install O-ring seals (17) to the top and bottom of each end of cylinder (5).

  3. Install shields (16) to the top and bottom of each end of cylinder (5).

  4. Use the hoist in order to install the steering cylinder to the machine. The weight of the steering cylinder is 38 kg (84 lb). Install hose clamp (12) to hydraulic hose (2) and cylinder (5).

  5. Lower the temperature of pin (13). Install bolt (15), washer (14) and pin (13) in order to secure the steering cylinder to the mounting bracket.

  6. Lower the temperature of pin (8). Install pin (8), bolt (10) and washer (9) in order to secure the steering cylinder to the mounting bracket.

  7. Remove the nylon lifting strap and the hoist from the steering cylinder.

  8. Position grease line (7) to pin (8). Tighten nut (6) in order to connect grease line (7) to pin (8).

  9. Tighten nut (4) in order to connect hydraulic hose (2) to cylinder (5). Tighten nut (3) in order to connect hydraulic hose (1) to cylinder (5).

  10. Install the steering cylinder to the other side of the machine by following Steps 1 through 9.
