Gear Pump (Rear Axle Lube) - Disassemble

Start By:

  1. Remove the gear pump (rear axle lube). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gear Pump (Rear Axle Lube) - Remove and Install".


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Remove key (1).

    Note: Two bearings (13) and ring seal (14) are not serviced. Ring seal (14) is only installed in the bore of the drive gear.

  2. Remove four bolts (18) and four washers.

  3. Remove housing assembly (17).

  4. Remove O-ring seal (8) and thrust plate (9).

  5. Remove drive gear (10) and idler gear (11).

    Note: Drive gear (10) has an internal spline which accepts the external spline on shaft (12).

  6. Remove housing assembly (16).

  7. Remove O-ring seal (8).

  8. Remove thrust plate (9).

  9. Remove retaining ring (2).

  10. Remove shaft assembly (12).

  11. Use Tool (A) to remove retaining ring (6).

  12. Remove spacer (4) and bearing (3) from the shaft.

    Note: Bearing (3) is pressed on the shaft.

  13. Remove spacer (5) and lip seal (7).

    Note: Lip seal (7) is made of Viton. Do not use any other type of seal.
