Note: Check all the O-ring seals for wear or for damage. If necessary, replace the O-ring seals.

  1. Use Tool (A) to install the two bushings (35) into pump body (24). Repeat this procedure for remaining bushing (35).

    Note: The oil groove in bushing (35) should face the dowel pin in pump body (24).

    NOTICE

    Failure to follow the recommended procedure or the specified tooling that is required for the procedure could result in damage to components.

    To avoid component damage, follow the recommended procedure using the recommended tools.


    Note: The grooved side of seal (34) faces pressure plate (32). Trap (33) that is located on the bottom of pressure plate (32) must face the outlet side of pump body (24). Improper installation of seal (34) and pressure plate (32) could cause the pump failure and damage to the machine.

  2. Install seal (34) in pressure plate (32) so that the grooved side faces pressure plate (32).

  3. Install pressure plate (32) in pump body (24) so that seal (34) faces bushing (35). Make sure that trap (33) faces the outlet side of pump body (24).

  4. Install drive gear (30) and idler gear (31) in pump body (24). Refer to the markings that were made during the disassembly for the correct position.

    NOTICE

    Note: The grooved side of seal (29) faces the surface of pressure plate (26). Trap (28) that is located on top of pressure plate (26) must face the outlet side of pump body (24).

  5. Install seal (29) in pressure plate (26) so that the grooved side faces pressure plate (26).

  6. Install pressure plate (26) in pump body (24) so that seal (29) faces upward. Install O-ring seal (27) in pump body (24).

  7. Use Tool (A) to install bushing (25) into plate assembly (21). Repeat this procedure for the remaining bushing.

    Note: The oil groove in bushing (25) should face toward the dowel pin in pump body (21).

  8. Install plate assembly (21) on pump body (24).

  9. Lubricate spline coupling (22). Install spline coupling (22) in plate assembly (21). Install O-ring seal (23) in plate assembly (21).

  10. Install eight O-ring seals (20) on studs (19). Install the threaded end of eight studs (19) into plate assembly (21).

  11. Use Tool (A) to install bushing (18) into pump body (4). Repeat this procedure for the remaining bushing.

    Note: The oil groove in bushing (18) should face toward the dowel pin in pump body (4).

  12. Install the dowels and bolt dampers (17) into pump body (4).

  13. Install pump body (4) onto the pump.

    Note: The grooved side of seal (15) faces pressure plate (14). Trap (16) that is located on the bottom of pressure plate (14) must face the outlet side of pump body (4). Improper installation of seal (15) and pressure plate (14) could cause pump failure and damage to the machine.

  14. Install seal (15) in pressure plate (14).

  15. Install pressure plate (14) in pump body (4) so that seal (15) faces bushing (18). Make sure that trap (16) is facing the outlet side of pump body (4).

  16. Install drive gear shaft (1) and idler gear (13) in pump body (4). Refer to the markings that were made during the disassembly for the correct position.

    Note: The grooved side of seal (12) faces pressure plate (11). Trap (10) that is located on the bottom of pressure plate (11) must face the outlet side of pump body (4). Improper installation of seal (12) and pressure plate (11) could cause pump failure and damage to the machine.

  17. Install seal (12) in pressure plate (11).

  18. Install pressure plate (11) in pump body (4) so that seal (12) faces upward. Install O-ring seal (9) in pump body (4).

  19. Use Tool (A) to install bushing (5) in flange assembly (2). Repeat this procedure on the remaining bushing.

    Note: The oil groove in bushing (5) should face the dowel pin in pump body (2).

  20. Use Tool (A) to install lip seal (7) in flange assembly (2). Use Tool (B) to install retaining ring (8). Use Tool (A) to install lip seal (6) in flange assembly (2).

    Note: Make sure that the gap in retaining ring (8) is over the drain hole in flange assembly (2).

    NOTICE

    Clean grease must be applied to the splines of the drive gear and to the lip seals. Failure to do so could result in seal failure. This could cause pump failure.


  21. Put clean grease on the splines of drive gear (1). Install flange (2) on pump body (4).

  22. Install eight nuts (3). Tighten nuts (3) to a torque of 228 ± 10 N·m (168.2 ± 7.4 lb ft).

  23. The pump must be able to rotate freely by hand. Before activation, lubricate the pump with oil.

End By:

  1. Install the gear pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gear Pump (Hoist) - Install" for the correct procedure.
