Pump Drive Shaft (Hydraulic) - Remove and Install

Usage:

793C 4AR

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the drive shaft guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive Shaft Guard - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.

------ WARNING! ------

The space between the body and the frame becomes a zero clearance area when the body is lowered. Failure to install the retaining cable can result in injury or death to personnel working in this area.

  1. Use a strap and a suitable lifting device to support the weight of the pump drive shaft. The pump drive shaft weighs 9.9 kg (21.83 lb).

  2. Remove four outer bolts (3) and the four washers.

  3. Use a pry bar in order to compress yoke (2) into pump drive (5).

  4. Repeat Step 1 at the opposite end of the drive shaft.

  5. Remove pump drive shaft (1) and spider (4). If spider (4) must be removed, remove four inner bolts (3). Pry the spider off the pump drive shaft.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install pump drive shaft (1). If spider (4) was removed, install the spider before the installation of the pump drive shaft.

  2. Use a pry bar in order to pry yoke (2) out of pump drive (5).

  3. Install the four washers and four outer bolts (3).

    Note: When bolts (3) are installed, tighten the bolts to a torque of 55 ± 5 N·m (40.6 ± 3.7 lb ft).

  4. Repeat Step 3 at the opposite end of the drive shaft.

End By:

  1. Install the drive shaft guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive Shaft Guard - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
