When you turn the engine start switch key to the ON position, a self-test is performed on the indicator lamps. The self-test briefly turns on all the indicator lamps. If an indicator lamp fails, consult any Caterpillar dealer.

Pressure in the Brake Accumulator (1) - The lamp illuminates indicating that the pressure in the brake accumulator is low. Also, an alarm will sound if the pressure is low. If the lamp remains illuminated and the engine is running, stop the machine in a safe place. Consult any Caterpillar dealer. Do not operate the machine.

Steering Filter (2) - The lamp will illuminate indicating a steering filter that is bypassing due to resistance. Also, an alarm will sound. If the lamp remains illuminated, replace the steering filter as soon as possible.

Note: In ambient conditions below 0°C (32°F), the lamp may illuminate for a short period during a cold start-up.

Parking Brake (3) - The lamp will illuminate if the parking brake is applied. The alarm will sound if the parking brake is engaged and the transmission control lever is not in the NEUTRAL position. If the lamp illuminates and the machine is moving, make sure that the parking brake is fully released.

Implement Return Oil Filter (4) - The lamp will illuminate indicating an implement return oil filter that is bypassing due to resistance. Also, an alarm will sound when oil is bypassing. If the lamp remains illuminated, replace the implement return oil filter as soon as possible.

Note: In ambient conditions below 0°C (32°F), the lamp may illuminate for a short period if the implement circuits are activated.

Transmission Oil Temperature (5) - The lamp will illuminate and an alarm will sound when the oil temperature is at least 107°C (225°F). Stop the machine in a safe location and investigate the cause. Do not operate the machine if the lamp remains illuminated.

Differential Lube Oil Flow (6) - The lamp will illuminate indicating that an insufficient amount of lube oil is being pumped to the differential. Also, an alarm will sound. If the lamp remains illuminated, stop the machine as soon as possible. Do not operate the machine until the cause has been corrected.

Belt Tension Cylinder (7) - The lamp will illuminate if the nitrogen pressure drops below 1150 kPa (167 psi). The lamp will illuminate if the nitrogen pressure exceeds 2756 kPa (400 psi). Also, an alarm will sound. If the lamp illuminates, stop the machine and investigate the cause. A buildup of debris between the drive wheels and the belt can cause an increase in pressure. A buildup of debris between the idlers and the belt can also cause an increase in pressure. Remove any packed debris. Avoid operating in similar conditions in order to prevent structural damage. If the lamp illuminates as a result of low belt tension, consult any Caterpillar dealer for service as soon as possible.

Low belt tension may adversely affect the performance and safe operation of the machine.

Note: Consult any Caterpillar dealer for information on operating in cold weather.
