HH45 Harvester Head, HH55 Harvester Head, HH65 Harvester Head and HH75 Harvester Head Caterpillar

Operating Technique Information

Usage:

HH45 2JZ

Keep the head as close to the machine as possible. When the machine is being operated on the highway or transported, the head must be secured. Secure the head in a horizontal position close to the machine. Secure the head to the boom by using a chain.

The head rotates by the rotator that is mounted to the top of the head. The head has no stops that limit rotational travel. The head is capable of rotating in more than a full circle. The only limit on multiple rotations of the head is the hydraulic lines and the wiring harnesses.

NOTICE

The Harvester head is free to rotate completely on its axis. There are no stops that limit the head from turning more than one full revolution. The operator should be aware that the hydraulic lines and the wiring harnesses may become entangled if too many revolutions occur.

(1) Bolt location. (2) Rotator.

The head swings back and forth on the damper assembly of the rotator (2). The momentum of the head allows the head to swing. The damper assembly controls the swing speed of the head. Tighten bolts (1). The maximum torque of bolts (1) is 30 N·m (22 lb ft). This will allow the head to swing at a slower speed. Loosen the bolts (1) in order to allow the head to swing faster.

(1) Tree. (2) Direction of tree after felling.

You should be aware of the direction of felling of the tree. Position the harvester head so the head faces the desired direction of felling. The tree will fall in this direction.

You should be careful when you select the direction of felling of the tree. The direction of felling will match the direction of processing. The logs will exit the head parallel to the direction of the tree.

The tree should fall due to gravity only. View the top crown of the tree before you fell the tree. The tree may already be leaning in one direction. The tree may not begin to fall after the initial cut. You can slightly swing the boom in order to fell the tree. You can also press the "tilt down" button. This will force the head to tilt down allowing the tree to fall.

A notched plate keeps the tree from sliding down after the tree has been cut. Without the notched plate, the tree could slide onto the saw bar before the saw bar could be retracted.

The pressure of the feed rollers is adjustable on the HH45 harvester head by the measuring and control system.

The pressure of the holding arm is adjustable on the HH55, HH65, and HH75 harvester heads by the measuring and control system.

The pressure of the delimbing knives is adjustable on all models of the harvester head by the measuring and control system.

The hydraulic flow to the various functions can be adjusted at the main hydraulic control valve. Adjusting the hydraulic flow will control the speed of the hydraulic components. The stroke limitation screws on the control valve limit the amount of oil flow. The main hydraulic control valve is located on the Harvester head.
