Note: For instruction on reusability, refer to Guideline For Reusable Parts, SEBF8022, "Sealed And Lubricated Track" .
Maximum track press assembly force ... 530 ± 41 kN (119150 ± 9200 lb)
(1) Torque for bolts that hold the half links together ... 400 ± 70 N·m (300 ± 50 lb ft)
Then turn the bolts by another 120 degrees.
Put 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads, the body of the bolt, and the washer face of each bolt before installation.
(2) Torque for bolts that hold the track shoe to the link ... 400 ± 70 N·m (300 ± 50 lb ft)
Then, turn the bolts by another 120 degrees.
Put SAE 30W oil on the threads, the bolt, and the washer face of each bolt before installation.
Note: Install the nuts so that the radii on the corner of the nut is against the link.
(3) Height of a new link ... 131.5 ± 0.25 mm (5.18 ± 0.01 inch)
Height of maximum worn link ... 114.8 mm (4.52 inch)
(4) Distance from the center of one pin to the center of the next pin (pitch) ... 215.9 ± 0.13 mm (8.50 ± .005 inch)
(5) Maximum extension of pin beyond both sides of the link ... 3.8 ± 0.8 mm (0.150 ± .031 inch)
(6) Bushings
- Diameter of a new bushing ... 79.16 ± 0.25 mm (3.116 ± .010 inch)
-
The minimum diameter of the bushing before the bushing is turned:
- Operations under little shock load or no shock load ... 67.1 mm (2.64 inch)
- Operations under average or heavy shock load ... 69.6 mm (2.74 inch)
(7) Thickness of a new thrust ring ... 10.70 ± 0.08 mm (.421 ± .003 inch)
(8) Distance from the face of the link to the end of the bushing ... 1.80 ± 0.13 mm (.071 ± .005 inch)
(9) Maximum permissible end clearance (end play) ... 0.20 mm (.008 inch)
Track Adjustment
Illustration 3 | g00102082 |
To prevent personal injury, never visually inspect the vent holes or the valves to see if grease or oil is coming out of them. Make sure the vent holes are clean before the tension is released on the track. Watch the front roller frame to see that it moves. |
For correct track adjustment, use the following procedure:
Note: Adjust the track under the operating conditions that exist on the job site. Packing must NOT be removed from the track if packing conditions exist on the job site.
- Move the machine forward for at least two lengths of the machine. Allow the machine to come to a stop without using the brakes.
- Add multipurpose grease MPG through the filler valve. Add grease until the idler moves toward the front of the machine, and the track is tight.
- Measure dimension (A) .
- Open the relief valve by one turn in order to allow the idler to move back 13 mm (.5 inch). Move the machine forward and backward. Moving the machine will help the idler move back.
- Close the relief valve.
(A) Dimension with a new undercarriage (approximate measurement) ... 40 mm (1.57 inch)
(A) Dimension at the maximum adjustment (approximate measurement) ... 105 mm (4.1 inch)
Note: Turn the track pins and bushings or install new track link assemblies when track adjustment reaches the maximum.
Note: A machined flat that is on the cylinder piston prevents the over-pressurization of the track adjustment cylinder. The machined flat vents the grease pressure.
