Swing Drawbar

Usage:

45 1DR
Machines that are not equipped with a three-point hitch can be equipped with an optional heavy-duty drawbar. The heavy-duty drawbar has an extended range of swing. Also, the heavy-duty drawbar features swing stop bumpers. The swing stop bumpers absorb energy from the swing of the drawbar. The heavy-duty drawbar has common items with the standard drawbar. See the following items that are common: drawbar, clevis, hitch pin, usage of the safety chain and adjustment for the length.

Adjustments of the Drawbar Support

------ WARNING! ------

The drawbar could swing unexpectedly if it is not properly restrained when transporting equipment. Possible unstable operation of the towed implement could cause an accident and result in personal injury. Always install the drawbar swing stop to prevent drawbar swing when transporting equipment.

----------------------

NOTICE

The farthest outboard swing stop mounting holes can only be used with certain combinations of track widths and gauge spacings. Always check for interference between the tracks and drawbar when selecting a swing stop location.

Drawbar support (1) provides multiple locations for restricting the drawbar in fixed positions. The drawbar support (1) also provides adjustments for the range of swing on the drawbar.

Certain applications require you to secure the drawbar in a fixed position. See the following examples of these applications: roading, pulling trailers and pulling implements that require accurate positioning of the drawbar. In order to secure the drawbar in a fixed position, place the swing stop (2) over the drawbar and into the holes in the drawbar support. Retain the swing stop by inserting pin (3) . Secure the retaining pin (3) by using lynch pin (4) .

When you pull ground engaging equipment, remove the swing stop (2) and the retaining pin (3) and store the items in holder (5) .

Adjust swing stop bumpers (6) in order to maximize the performance of the steering while the machine is under load. The location of the swing stop bumpers (6) should allow the maximum swing of the drawbar without causing interference with the tracks. In order to adjust the bumpers, remove bolts (7) . Then, move the lower bumpers to the desired locations and move the upper bumpers to the desired locations.

A steel wear block (8) is provided. Turn over the wear block when one side becomes excessively worn. Replace wear blocks that are excessively worn.

Note: Replace any badly damaged or missing swing stop bumpers (6) . Additional bumpers and hardware are available from any Caterpillar dealer.
