Air Inlet Heater Relay Magnetic Switch Schematic

CID 0617 FMI 05 service code is recorded when the power train electronic control module (ECM) reads the current of the air inlet heater relay circuit below normal (open circuit).

Note: Ensure that the CID 0617 FMI 05 fault that is being analyzed is on hold. Ensure that the fault present indicator is ON.

  1. Check for an open harness.

    1. Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.

    1. Disconnect the machine harness connector J2 from the power train ECM.

    1. Measure the resistance from connector contact J2-19 to contact J2-3 (solenoid return).

Expected Result: The resistance should be between 15 to 65 Ohms.

      Results:

      • YES - The resistance measures 15 to 65 Ohms. The resistance of the harness circuit for the relay is correct. Inspect the harness connector contacts. Connect the harness connector to the power train ECM. Make sure that the fault present indicator is on. Check the power train ECM for the CID 0617 FMI 05 fault. If the fault is present, the power train ECM is faulty. Replace the power train ECM. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (Power Train) - Replace" for more information on replacing the power train ECM. STOP.

      • NO - Resistance is NOT 15 to 65 Ohms. The relay or the harness circuit for the relay is faulty. Repair the harness and/or the relay. If necessary, replace the harness and/or the relay. STOP.
