SUBJECT: Unintended Fault Codes Logged Against the Flashing J1939 Control on Some Backhoe Loaders

PROBLEM:

When the machine ECM is flashed, it does not properly notify the Advisor that it will be off-line. As a result the Advisor will log a 1603-9 fault (Machine Control Module Abnormal Update) during flashing of the machine ECM.

SOLUTION:

After successfully flashing the machine ECM, clear all logged diagnostics from the Advisor. If the 1603-9 diagnostic doesn't return (should return in approximately 15 seconds) then there is not a problem.
