SUBJECT: THE 9R-8599 PLATE AND THE 101-4016 PLATE ASSEMBLY SEIZE ON THE 101-4020 PIN DURING OPERATION OF THE BACKHOE LOADERS
PROBLEM:
The 9R-8599 Plate and the 101-4016 Plate Assembly seize on the 101-4020 Pin during operation. The 101-4020 Pin is greased before installation in the swing frame. The inside of the 9R-8599 Plate and the 101-4016 Plate Assembly are not painted. This allows the inside bore of the plate and the plate assembly to rust. The rust causes the plate and the plate assembly to seize during operation.
SOLUTION:
A passage for grease can be machines in the 9R-8599 Plate and the 101-4016 Plate Assembly in order to allow the bore to be lubricated. This will minimize the contact between the parts.
Locate the hole. The hole is positioned off the centerline of the hole (1) and the hole (2). Position the hole (3) 45 +/- 3 degrees (B) downward from the centerline of the two holes. Move in from the edge 12.5 mm (0.49 in) (C). At this location, drill a hole that is 8.7 mm (0.34 IN) in diameter into the hole (1). Using a 1/8 ? 27 thread tap, tap threads a minimum of 8.0 mm (0.31 IN) into the parts.
Install the 3B-8489 Grease Fitting on the 9R-8599 Plate and on the 101-4016 Plate Assembly.
