SUBJECT: THE 216-6195 LINK CAN RUB ON THE LIFT CYLINDER PIN ON SOME SKID STEER LOADERS AND MULTI TERRAIN LOADERS

PROBLEM:

The 216-6195 Link can rub the 142-9094 Lift Cylinder Pin on some of the listed machines.

SOLUTION:

A permanent fix to this problem is being identified.

If your machine has experienced this problem, perform the following rework procedure.

Rework Procedure

As a general description of the rework, the current lift cylinder pin that is causing the interference is being replaced with a coupler pin (B-Pin). See Figure 1.

The coupler pin (B-Pin) is shortened so that when it is installed, it will be flush with the lift arm boss, rather than sticking out like the current lift cylinder pin. See Figure 2.

NOTE: This procedure needs to be performed only on lift arms that experience interference between the link and the lift cylinder pin. If only one of the lift arms experience interference, only one of each of the listed parts will be required.

  1. Remove the 142-9094 Lift Cylinder Pin.
  2. Rework the new 142-9091 Pin as follows:
  1. Remove 24mm (0.94 inch) from the end of the pin. See Figure 3.
  2. Add a 1mm (0.04 inch) x 15? chamfer to the end of the pin.
  3. Add a new grease port that is 3mm (0.12 inch) in diameter. Locate the new grease port 8mm (0.31 inch) from the original grease port toward the pin flag. The new grease port can be oriented in any direction perpendicular to the body of the pin.
  1. Fabricate the 218-5552 Boss per the details in Figure 3. Then, weld the fabricated boss to the lift arm. The centerline of the boss must be 70mm (2.76 inches) from the centerline of the pin?s installation hole. See Figure 4.
  2. Insert the new (shortened) 142-9091 Pin in the pin?s hole in the lift arm. Align the hole in the pin flag with the new 218-5552 Boss. Secure the pin with an 8T-4191 Bolt and a 7X-7729 Washer. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 55 ? 10 N?m. See Figure 5.
  3. Install the 3B-8489 Grease Fitting into the head of the pin.
