NOTE: | This Containment Program can be administered either before or after a failure occurs. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer and service rep. Obtain the service reps Goodwill Approver Code before completing the repair. EAME dealers should use their standard Industry Group specific goodwill approval codes. The Goodwill Approver Code must be included when submitting the claim. |
NOTE: | When reporting the repair, use "PS90638" as the Part Number and "7777" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as Warranty Claim Description and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code. |

PROBLEM
Certain 777F, and 777G Off-Highway Trucks are experiencing unusual valve train wear. The problem has been identified with either DLC or brass pin rocker rollers. The failure results in poor performance leading to early hour replacement of the valve train components. |

ACTION REQUIRED
Every 1000 hours and during a regular service interval remove the engine valve covers inspect the camshaft and valve rocker rollers and document the camshaft and rocker arm condition. The valve rotators inspection procedure is in the Operation and Maintenance Manual SEBU8227. The documentation should include clear pictures of the camshaft and rocker arms components. SOS oil sampling should be done in-line with each oil change and closely monitored with the results kept on file with work order numbers attached. The following Inspections will not be covered under this Program: 1.) The initial 500 Hr Inspection and Valve lash adjustment for the new engines and newly assembled Trucks. But this work needs to be performed as per the OMM. 2.) The 3000 Hr Inspection and Valve lash adjustment. But this work still need to be performed as per the OMM. |
