Updated VIMS Configurations Available For 793C Off-Highway Trucks{7601,7407,7417,7470,1924}

Usage:

793C (4AR) Off-Highway Trucks

Description of Change: New VIMS onboard configurations address problems of the previous version. The following changes have been made.

1. High and low boost warnings have been added for the engine. New category 2 high and low boost warnings will appear and be logged in the VIMS system.

Once triggered, these warnings will remain active until the truck is shut off and restarted since they are being generated by the engine control. Display will be as follows:

Pressing the "F1" key will display the alternate message of "ON".

2. False differential oil level low warnings have been fixed. The previous configurations made it possible to have a false low level warning anytime the truck was moving less than 2 km/h (1.2 mph) and the engine at low idle. The current configuration will allow normal differential low oil level warnings before the truck is started, or when the body is up with the truck moving less than 2 km/h (1.2 mph).
3. Engine shutdowns work correctly. Low engine oil level, low engine oil pressure, high engine coolant temperature, and low engine coolant level function to shut the truck down when the truck is not moving and engine idling.
4. Engine startup events work correctly. Low engine oil level, low engine coolant level, low engine oil pressure, and high engine coolant temperature events are corrected.
5. Related system events from other controls have been masked out when the transmission lockout switch is on. This is valid only for 153-3576 Software Group.
6. Startup delay is removed from system voltage event to give low voltage warnings at key on.

Adaptable To: This software change is effective with 793C (4AR262) Off-Highway Trucks, and is adaptable to all 793C (4AR1-261) Off-Highway Trucks. The following chart and implementation steps summarize the applications for the new configurations that will work with the 9.3X Source Code (140-9474 Software Group) only.

NOTICE

VIMS faults will occur if the engine ECM is not equipped with engine software which is compatible. Earliest available compatible engine software is 146-9358 Software Group. Thus, the VIMS configuration software described in this article will only run properly when installed with engine 146-9358 Software Group (or later compatible versions). The 146-9358 Software Group is effective with 793C (4AR251).

The following steps should be performed when uploading any new Source or Configurations to the VIMS system.

1. Download all information from the VIMS system before uploading new configurations to the onboard system, the upload will clear all stored information in the VIMS module.

2. Verify 140-9474 Software Group is the Source code. If it is not, then upload new Source code. The 140-9474 Software Group requires 141-5746 Pressure Sensor Group for the air system to be used.

3. Upload the new configuration as listed in the following chart.

4. Calibrate payload.
