Description of Change: The tube assemblies and mounting bracket joining the supplemental steering pump and steering control valve had little adjustment or movement available during the installation procedure. This could cause a more difficult installation procedure and a potential for leaks during machine operation.
The improved tube assemblies located in the 7U-2991 Supplemental Steering Lines Group have been modified to permit a better joint between the supplemental steering pump and steering control valve faces during the installation procedure.
The bracket bolt pattern has also been modified for additional adjustment or movement during the installation procedure. All four slots (A) were elongated an additional 5.0 mm (.20 in) for greater movement. The slot identified with Callout (B) was changed from a 45 degree angle to match the corresponding slot for greater movement when installed on the torque converter. See the illustration for changes.
Adaptable To: The improved 7U-7673, 7U-7674 Tube Assemblies and 101-4129 Bracket are effective with D40D (2JJ101) and D400D (8TF860) Articulated Trucks and are adaptable to all earlier machines using existing hardware.
