New Tube Assembly With Bellows At Each End Used In Engine Air Lines Groups {1058}

Usage:

768C (02X) Tractors;
769C (01X),
771C (3BJ) Trucks;
834B (92Z) Wheel Tractors;
836 (3RL) Compactors;
PM-565 (3TK) Pavement Profilers

Description of Change: A new tube assembly is used in the engine air line groups. The new tube assembly includes a bellows at each end to allow greater movement for expansion and contraction of the tube assembly.

Adaptable To: The new 110-5960 Tube Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 6I-2820 Tube Assembly in the 1N-4732, 1W-6843, and 1W-0638 Air Lines Groups. The former tube assembly has been canceled. The new tube assembly is in effect with 3408 Machine Engine 48W36572 used in the above machines.

NOTE: Caterpillar recommends using new 8N-0879 Clamps (2) when replacing the former 6I-2820 Tube Assembly with the new 110-5960 Tube Assembly (1). See the illustration. Tighten new clamps (2) to a torque of 7.5 ± 1 N·m (67 ± 9 lb in). Lightly tap around the clamps with a hammer. Tighten the clamps again to a torque of 7.5 ± 1 N·m (67 ± 9 lb in).

NOTE: For 834B Wheel Tractors and 863 Compactors ONLY, Bracket (A) must be tilted at an angle to allow the new 110-5960 Tube Assembly (1) to be inserted through the brackets's opening. Be sure to support the muffler when tilting bracket (A). See the illustration.
