The front suspension removal and installation procedure given in this article supersedes the information given in Disassembly & Assembly; D20D & D250D Articulated Dump Trucks Machine Systems; SENR8231.
1. Turn the battery disconnect switch OFF and lower the front suspension.
2. Use suitable tooling to support the front axle housing. Remove the exhaust shields if necessary.
WARNING The suspension system may drop the machine suddenly, leaving no clearance between the axle housing, main frame, tires and mud guards. Working in these areas can result in personal injury or death by crushing. Stay clear until the engine is stopped and the suspension is lowered to the service position.
|
WARNING Do not disconnect any hydraulic lines until all the hydraulic pressure has been released from the system.

3. Disconnect the hydraulic line at the top of the suspension cylinder. Put caps or plugs in the line to keep dirt or foreign material out of the system.
