New Radiator Tie Bars Resist Cracking {1353,1350}

Reference: Special Instruction, SEHS9279, "Installation Of New Radiator Mountings ".

Description of Change: A new radiator tie bar mounting arrangement is being used. The new arrangement has a ball joint to help prevent fatigue cracks.

Adaptable To: The new radiator tie bar mounting arrangement can be installed on the trucks in the field with some modification. Some early trucks may need the radiator mountings given in the Reference.

Use the methods that follow to install the new radiator tie bars on machines in the field.

D25D, D30D, D350D Articulated Trucks

1. Remove the radiator grill and fuel tank using the method given in the Service Manual.

2. Install the parts shown in Chart and Illustration 1.

D40D, D400D Articulated Trucks

1. Remove the radiator grill.

2. Modify the radiator shroud by removing material as shown in Illustration 2.


Radiator shroud modification. Dimension (A) 15.0 mm (.59 in).

3. Install the parts shown in Chart and Illustration 3.
