Usage:
START BY:
a. remove fan drive and fan belt tightener (later) as a unit
b. remove fan belt tightener (later)
1. Remove O-ring seal (3).
2. Remove two bolts (1) and washer (2).
3. Use tooling (A) to remove hub (4) and the bearings.
4. Remove bearing (7), spacer (6) and bearing (5) from hub (4).
5. Remove lip-type seal (8) from hub (4).
6. Note the side of pulley (10) that mates with adapter (4) for installation purpose. Remove pulley (10).
7. Remove spacer (9).
8. Remove belt tightener spring (14).
9. If removal of shafts (11) and (12) from fan drive bracket (16) is necessary, use the following procedure:
a. Remove pin (15), and use a hydraulic press and suitable spacers to remove shaft (11).
b. Remove pin (13), and use a hydraulic press and suitable spacers to remove shaft (2).
10. Thoroughly clean and inspect all parts.
NOTE: The following steps are for assembly of the fan drive.
11. Align the lubricant passage on shaft (11) with the passage in fan drive bracket (16).
12. Use a hydraulic press to install shaft (11) into fan drive bracket (16) until dowel (15) can be installed.
13. Install dowel (15) so it is even with each side of the fan drive bracket. Install spring (14) on bracket (16).
14. Use a hydraulic press to install shaft (12) into fan drive bracket (16) until pin (13) can be installed. Install pin (13) to a depth of 6.5 to 8.5 mm (.256 to .335 in.).
15. Install spacer (9) on the shaft as shown.
16. Place pulley (10) over the shaft. Be sure the pulley will be in its original position in relation to the adapter.
17. Use tooling (B) to install the lip-type seal in adapter (10). Install the lip-type seal with the spring loaded lip to the outside of hub (10).
18. Install bearing (5), spacer (6) and bearing (7) into hub (10).
19. Put clean engine oil on the lip of the seal in adapter (10).
20. Put hub (10) and bearings in position on shaft (1).
21. Install washer (2) and two bolts (1).
22. Install O-ring seal (3).
