Usage:
START BY:
a. remove camshaft
1. Remove plate (1) and idler gear (2).
2. Inspect the bearing in the idler gear. The inside diameter (bore) of a new bearing must be 63.564 to 63.640 mm (2.5025 to 2.5055 in.).
3. If bearing replacement is necessary, use tool (A) to remove the bearing from gear (2).
4. Inspect shaft (4). The diameter of a new shaft is 63.487 to 63.513 mm (2.4995 to 2.5005 in.).
5. If shaft replacement is necessary, remove bolts (3) and shaft (4).
NOTE: The following steps are for installation of the camshaft idler gear.
6. Install idler gear shaft (4).
7. Use tool (A) and a press to install the bearing in idler gear (2). Install the bearing with the joint centered in the heavy section of the gear. Install the bearing to a depth of .13 to .63 mm (.005 to .025 in.).
8. Put clean engine oil on the idler gear bearing. Align the timing, "V", marks on the idler gear and the crankshaft gear.
9. Install the thrust plate so the oil groove side is toward the idler gear.
