Usage:
START BY:
a. remove crankcase guards
1. Drain the oil from the oil pan. The capacity of oil in the oil pan is 45.5 liter (12 U.S. gal.).
2. Remove the bolt that holds clip (1) to the oil pan.
3. Remove bolts that hold clips (2) to the oil pan.
4. Remove the bolts that hold clip (3) to the oil pan.
5. Place tool (A) beneath oil pan (4). the weight of the oil pan is 22 kg (49 lb.).
6. Remove the remaining bolts that hold the oil pan to the cylinder block. Carefully lower it away from the engine.
7. Remove all traces of the oil gasket, and install a new gasket on the oil pan.
8. Apply 3M EC1413 Adhesive to hold the gasket in place on the oil pan. Read the directions before using it.
9. Be sure the mating surface on the cylinder block is clean.
10. Put the oil pan in position on the cylinder block, and install the bolts with the four clips in their original position.
11. Install the remainder of the bolts. Be sure to tighten all 32 bolts. On earlier engines, install the drain plug gasket with the seam against the oil pan. On later engines without plug gaskets, put 9S3263 Thread Lock on the plug threads. Tighten the three plugs with the round head and square boss to a torque fo 80 ± 11 lb.in. (60 ± 8 lb.ft.).
12. Fill the oil pan to the correct level with engine oil. See the Maintenance Guide.
