PROBLEM
The terminal ends on the air inlet heater connections may contact the cylinder head. In addition, the terminal ends may contact each other at the connection on the air inlet heater relay. The rubber boot that covers the heater terminals can catch fire as a result of the wire contacting the head.AFFECTED PRODUCT

MODELS INVOLVED - CERTAIN 3126 MARINE ENGINES
Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
New wires that connect the air inlet heater terminals at the aftercooler from the air inlet heater relay, and battery negative terminal need to be installed on the products listed below. The rubber boot that covers these air inlet heater terminals can catch fire if the wires make contact with the head. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Please contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service. Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated May 15, 2002 when scheduling this service.
