The 9Y9589 And 9Y8721 Air Lines Groups May Fail On Certain, G3606, G3608, G3612 And G3616 Gas Engines Caterpillar

NOTE: This Program must be administered as soon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI1346" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI1346" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

Problem

The 9Y9589 and 9Y8721 Air Lines Groups in the starting systems of certain G3606, G3608, G3612 and G3616 Engines may fail. The failures can result in a natural gas leak in those applications that are using fuel gas as the starting medium. The failed components include the pressure relief valve and pipe nipples.

Rework Procedure

Modify the 7W1826 Bracket as shown in Illustration 1.

Cut the bracket to 100 mm.

NOTE: The components identified in Illustration 1 must be mounted on the last two cylinders toward the rear of the engine. The large black arrow in Illustration 1 points toward the rear of the engine.
