NOTE: This Program can be administered either before or after a failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS8084" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

NOTE: This Revised Service Letter replaces the February 8, 1994 Service Letter. A change was made to the Termination Date.

Rework Procedure

Group 1 (Units With A 2-Bolt Clamp)

1. Remove the existing 8Y8676 Cable and 5P9297 Clips.

2. Remove the two existing 2-bolt clamps from the left side of the machine.

3. Drill a hole in the center of each clamp and weld a new 8T9366 Screw in the hole as shown in Illustration 1.

4. Assemble the clamps to the machine so that the newly welded screws face each other. When fastening the 8H2770 Clip to the screw with a new 6V7744 Nut, be sure to place a new 8T4121 Washer between the flat surfaces of the clip as shown in Illustration 2.

5. Install three new 8M2770 Clips to the new 1137398 Cable to the lever in the cab and set the clips on the cable to the dimensions shown in Illustration 3.

6. Route the new cable below the bottom tube and between the bottom two hoses from the valve.See Illustration 4,View C.

7. Clip at approximately 45° to the inside of the center bolt on multi-clamps with a new 8M2770 Clip with a new 8T4121 Washer between the flat faces of clip to prevent clip from closing too tight on cable.See Illustration 4, View B.

8. Route the new cable on the inside of hoses to the next multi-clamp and clip it on the inside of the center bolt.

9. Route the boom end of the new cable into the slide frame and clip it in the cut out. See Illustration 4, View A.

10. Attach the cable to the boom lock mechanism at the boom end.

11. Attach a 6K0806 Strap as shown in Illustration 4, View A. Make sure that the cable between this tie and the clamp on top for the slide frame has as much clearance as possible from the top slide rail on the main frame.

12. Attach 7K1181 Straps as show in Illustration 4, View C.

13. Remove the eye from the tip of the swing pin.

Group 1 (Units With A 3-Bolt Clamp)

1. Remove the existing 8Y8676 Cable and 5P9297 Clips.

2. Install three new 8M2770 Clips to the new 1137398 Cable to the lever in the cab and set the clips on the cable to the dimensions shown in Illustration 3.

3. .Route the new cable below the bottom tube and between the bottom two hoses from the valve. See Illustration 4,View C.

4. Clip at approximately 45° to the inside of the center bolt on multi-clamps with a new 8M2770 Clip and a new 8T4121 Washer between the flat faces of clip to prevent clip from closing too tight on cable. This washer must be fitted.See Illustration 4, View B.

5. Route the new cable on the inside of hoses to the next multi-clamp and clip it on the inside of the center bolt.

6. Route the boom end of the new cable into the slide frame and clip it in the cut out. See Illustration 4, View A.

7. Attach the cable to the boom lock mechanism at the boom end.

8. Attach a 6K0806 Strap as shown in Illustration 4, View A. Make sure that the cable between this tie and the clamp on top of the slide frame has as much clearance as possible from the top slide rail on the main frame.

9. Attach 7K1181 Straps as show in Illustration 4, View C.

10. Remove the eye from the top of the swing pin.
