Rework Procedure
NOTE: Before installing new pins, coat them liberally with 5P0960 Multipurpose Molybdenum Grease.
Replacing 9R8664 Pin (Upper Boom Pin)
1. Remove the 6V7744 Locknut and 8T5436 Bolt from the 9R8664 Pin. Refer to Illustration 1.
2. Remove the existing 9R8664 Pin.
3. Inspect the 9R8664 Pin and both 9R0170 Sleeve Bearings for damage.
NOTE: If the bore for the 9R0170 Sleeve Bearings is out of round more than .3 mm, use localized heating to reshape the bore. If this method does not work, bore the hole to a diameter of 68.5± 0.025 mm and install two new 9R1494 Sleeve Bearings in place of the two 9R0170 Sleeve Bearings.
4. Replace damaged 9R0170 Sleeve Bearings with new ones.
5. Install a new 9R8664 Pin along with the 6V7687 Locknut and 8T5001 Bolt.
NOTE: If the pin is being replaced, the diameter of the hole in the stick where the 8T5436 Bolt fit must be enlarged to 14 mm to accept the new 8T5001 Bolt. The 9R8664 Pin should have a 14mm diamater hole in it for the bolt. If the hole in the pin is less than 14 mm, enlarge it. Install the 9R8583 Pins with so that the grease hole faces the front of the machine.
Replacing 9R8583 Pins (Lower Boom Pins)
1. Remove both 6V7687 Locknuts and 8T5412 Bolts from the 9R8583 Pins. Refer to Illustrations 1 and 2.
2. Remove both existing 9R8583 Pins from the 9R8508 Boom Assembly.
3. Inspect both 9R8583 Pins and both 9R9475 Sleeve Bearings for damage.
4. Replace damaged 9R9475 Sleeve Bearings with new ones.
5. Install two new 9R8583 Pins along with both 6V7687 Locknuts and 8T5412 Bolts.
NOTE: If the boom joints continue to squeak after this rework, call 919-550-1412 to report the problem.
