Modification Of Oil Pan For Installation Of Oil Sump Heater

Usage:

3208 Truck Engines

Many 3208 Truck Engines will be, or already are, equipped with oil sump heaters. These heaters are not available through Caterpillar Parts Department. There is a recommendation for the installation of an oil sump heater at a specific location to prevent contact (interference) with the pump suction bell. To prevent possible cracks or leaks on the oil pan, a boss can be installed 3.00" (76.2 mm) from the front of the oil pan and as near to the bottom as possible (see the Illustration).

Caterpillar is not responsible for the performance and effects resulting from the use of an oil sump heater.
