Put Grease On Front Crankshaft Seal Before Installing The Crankshaft Pulley And Damper{1160}

Usage:

3204, 3208 Engines

A 3 mm (.12") bead of 2S3230 Bearing Grease should be applied to the tension spring of the 9N307 Front Crankshaft Seal (see illustration) before the crankshaft pulley and damper is installed on the above engines. When the crankshaft pulley and damper is pushed through the front crankshaft seal, during installation, the tension spring can be forced from its groove and result in oil leakage through the crankshaft seal.

Illustration. Apply grease to front crankshaft seal.

An additional light application of grease on the face of the seal, will help the tapered section of the crankshaft pulley and damper slide through the seal more easily.
