Description of Change: A new flywheel housing gasket is now used in the flywheel housing group on D8K Tractors and 583K Pipelayers. The new gasket is of a different design that makes a seal completely around the camshaft bore.
The former gasket did not seal all the way around the camshaft. With the former gasket there have been some problems with oil leaks between the cylinder block and the flywheel housing in the area of the camshaft bore.
The cylinder block has also been changed to add more material in this area to give a surface to seal against. The part number of the cylinder block did not change. The new flywheel housing gasket and the new cylinder block, when used together, will provide a better seal for the area around the camshaft.
Adaptable As: The new 5N8691 Flywheel Housing Gasket is a direct replacement for the former 8N9575 Flywheel Housing Gasket.
