Usage:
772B Tractors;
773B Trucks
Description of Change: A new oil line has been added to the power train oil lines group for 772B Tractors and 773B Trucks. The new line increases the supply of oil to the transmission planetary gears. This will make sure the gears have enough oil for good lubrication in all conditions of operation. Formerly, it was possible for some conditions to lower the supply of oil enough to cause gear damage. With the new oil line, a new brake control valve group is used in the service brake lines group (rear), and a new, shorter guard assembly is used in the drive shaft guard group. The new brake control valve has an added opening in the valve body for connection of the new oil line. The shorter drive shaft guard gives clearance for installation of the oil line, which is connected between the inlet relief valve on the rear of the torque converter and the brake control valve. See Illustrations 1 and 2.

Adaptable To: The new parts, used together, are directly adaptable to all earlier 772B Tractors and 773B Trucks. If desired, modifications can be made to use the former brake control valve and drive shaft guard with the new oil line. The only modification needed for the 9D8545 Guard Assembly is to cut off 50.8 mm (2.00") from the front end (nearest the torque converter). For conversion of the 9J6408 Brake Control Valve Group, the valve must be removed and disassembled. Drill and tap the hole shown in Illustration 3, thoroughly clean the valve body, then assemble and install the valve. This changes the former valve group to the new group.
