Usage:
NOTE: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.
1. Put clean transmission oil on all internal parts of the torque converter scavenge pump.
2. Use Tooling (A) to install the lip seal in cover assembly (1). The lip must face outward. Allow the lip seal to make contact with the counterbore in the center. Put a small amount of clean oil on the lip of the seal.
3. Install O-ring seal (2) in cover assembly (1).
4. Use Tooling (A) to install bearings (3) in cover assembly (1). Bearing joints (X) must be 30 ± 15 degrees from the centerline through the bearing bores. Install the bearings to a depth of 1.57 mm (.062 inch) below the machined surface of the cover assembly. The bore in the bearings (new) must be 31.786 ± 0.008 mm (1.2514 ± .0003 inch).
5. Install O-ring seal (5) on cover assembly (1).
6. Install body assembly (4) on cover assembly (1).
7. Install drive gear assembly and idler gear assembly (6) in the body and cover assemblies in their original locations.
8. Use Tooling (A) to install bearings (7) in manifold assembly (8). Bearing joints (Y) must be 30 ± 15 degrees from the centerline through the bearing bores. Install the bearings to a depth of 1.52 ± 0.51 mm (.059 ± .020 inch) below the machined surface of the manifold assembly. The bore in the bearings (new) must be 31.786 ± 0.008 mm (1.2514 ± .0003 inch).
9. Install O-ring seal (9) in manifold assembly (8).
10. Install manifold assembly (8) on the body assembly.
11. Install six bolts (10) that hold the manifold assembly to the cover assembly. The pump shaft must be able to be turned freely by hand.
12. Install the O-ring seal on manifold (12).
13. Put manifold (12) in position on the torque converter scavenge pump. Install two bolts (11) that hold manifold (12) to the torque converter scavenge pump.
14. Install the O-ring seal on manifold (13).
15. Put manifold (13) in position on the torque converter scavenge pump. Install two bolts (14) that hold manifold (13) to the torque converter scavenge pump.
16. Lubricate the pump with oil before installation.
