New Alternators Are Self-Energizing And Have Built-In Regulators

Usage:

All Caterpillar Industrial And Marine Engines

Description of Change: New 12 volt and 24 volt alternators are used on Industrial and Marine Engines. These new alternators are self-energizing and have a built-in regulator. Repair parts for the former alternators and regulators will continue to be serviced.

Adaptable As: The new alternators are a direct replacement for the former alternators when used as shown in Charts A and B. When a former alternator is replaced with a new alternator, tape the wires from the former regulator or remove the regulator. The regulators are not needed with the new alternators which have a built-in regulator. When connecting the wires to the new alternators, connect only the B+ output and the B- ground wires. The orange wire to the oil pressure switch is no longer needed since the new alternators are self-excited.

The serviceable parts for the new alternators are shown in Illustrations 1 and 2 and listed in Charts C and D.
