Troubleshooting Test Steps | Values | Results |
1. Check for Codes A. Connect Cat® Electronic Technician (ET) to the service tool connector. B. Look for active codes that are associated with the system for the event code. |
codes |
Result: An associated code is active. Repair: Troubleshoot any associated codes before continuing with this test. Result: A 1391-17 code is active or logged. Proceed to Test Step 2. |
2. Check the Installation of the Fuel Metering Valve A. Determine if the fuel metering valve is installed in the correct direction. |
Direction |
Result: The valve is installed correctly. Proceed to Test Step 3. The valve is NOT installed in the correct direction. Repair: Reverse the valves direction. |
3. Check the Fuel Outlet for Obstructions A. Inspect the piping that is between the fuel metering valve and the inlet to the turbocharger compressor. Look for obstructions. |
Obstruction |
Result: There was an obstruction. Repair: Remedy the cause of the obstruction. |
