NOTICE |
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.
Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

Do not open the high pressure fuel system without allowing the fuel system to purge. After the engine has shut down, allow the fuel system to purge for ten minutes. This operating fuel system contains high pressure. Exposure to high pressure fuel can result in personal injury. |

- Remove bolts (2). Remove fuel control valve (1).

- Lubricate O-ring seals (3), (4), and (5) with Tooling (A).

- Position fuel control valve (1). Install bolts (2). Tighten bolts (2) in the sequence that is shown in Illustration 5. Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 6 N·m (53 lb in). Tighten bolts (2) in the sequence that is shown in Illustration 5. Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 12 N·m (106 lb in).
Note: Following repairs to the high-pressure fuel system, accumulator plugs on opened cylinders should be removed. A successful completion of the"Fuel Systems Function Test (FSFT)" using CATET must be performed. Upon completion of the FSFT, accumulator plugs are to be reinstalled.
