NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

  2. Disconnect the connections for the auxiliary water inlet. Cap the openings.

  3. Remove tube and elbow assemblies (1) and tube assemblies (2). Remove the O-ring seals and the gaskets (not shown).

  4. Disconnect harness assembly (6). Remove bolts (3) and (4) and remove manifold assembly (5).

  5. Remove two bolts (8). Install Tooling (A) and remove remaining bolts (8). Using two people, remove auxiliary water pump (7). The weight of auxiliary water pump (7) is approximately 55 kg (120 lb).

  6. Remove the O-ring seal from the joint between the auxiliary water pump and the front housing. Discard the O-ring seal.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install auxiliary water pump (7) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Install a new O-ring seal to the joint between the auxiliary water pump and the front housing.

    2. Lubricate the O-ring seal prior to installing the auxiliary water pump.
