Engine News, REBD0012, 28, September 2015, "A New Clamp Assembly Is Used on Certain 3516 Engines". Disregard the previous article, the effective serial numbers have been updated.

Description Of Change: The new mounting hardware and band clamps make a more robust joint.

Adaptable To: The new 452-9342 Clamp As replaces the existing 197-9732 U-Bolt. The new clamp assembly is adaptable back to first production on the serial numbers listed above.

Refer to Table 1 for the new and former part numbers.

New band clamp (4) 452-9342 Clamp As (5) 9X-6458 Hard Washers (6) 2K-4973 Locknuts

1. Remove the existing U-bolt clamp.

2. Install four new 452-9342 Clamp As along with new washers (6) and two new locknuts (5) on each band clamp.

3. Tighten both nuts down evenly so that the thread protrusion is approximately the same.

4. Tighten each nut to a torque of 15 ± 2 N·m (133 ± 18 lb in).
