Flushing the Cooling System Before the First Coolant Fill on C8.7 Marine Engines {1350}

Caterpillar C8.7 Marine Engines are shipped from the factory with a blue preservative in the cooling system. The engines are drained of coolant before shipping, but a residual amount of the preservative will remain in the engine. If this residual preservative is not flushed before the first coolant fill, the coolant sample results may be misinterpreted due to the discoloration.
Before the first coolant fill, the system must be flushed. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Coolant - Change" for the flushing procedure.
