Torque Converter O-Rings No Longer Needed to Seal Passage Between Certain CX48 Input Adapters and Clutch Carriers {3101}

Description of Change: 5P-0840 O-Ring Seals in CX48-P2300 Torque Converters can become dislodged during normal operation, and can reduce lubrication flow to the torsional coupling.

The two 5P-0840 O-Ring Seals (1) are no longer used in mating the CX48-P2300 input adapter (A) to the 368-3592 Clutch Carrier (C) .

To adapt this change in production, use the following steps.

  1. Remove input adapter (A) from the torque converter by loosening the 16 half inch bolts and washers (B) .

    Note: The weight of the input adapter is 36 kg (80 lb).

  1. Remove and discard two O-ring seals (1) .

  1. Install input adapter (A) with 16 bolts and washers (B). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 120 ± 15 N·m (90 ± 10 lb ft).
