Introduction

ReferenceReuse and Salvage Guidelines, SEBF8098, "Transmission Clutch Plates and Disc Assemblies with Rayflex Friction Material"

The problem that is identified in the technical information bulletin that follows does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

The 391-4047 Plate-Clutch is currently in short supply.

Solution

(A) 391-4047 Plate-Clutch

(B) 5.12 ± 0.08 mm (0.20157 ± 0.00315 inch)

(C) Surface finish between 1.4 and 0.63 mu

The 391-4047 Plate-Clutch may be made from a new or used 3T-3065 Plate-Clutch by machining down the thickness of the plate.

Refer to Illustration 1 for the thickness and surface requirements. Machine one or both sides of the plate to clean up any scratches or gouges ensuring that the thickness and surface finish requirements are maintained.

Note: Before machining a used 3T-3065 Plate-Clutch , the plate-clutch must meet all of the reuse criteria in Reuse and Salvage Guidelines, SEBF8098, "Transmission Clutch Plates and Disc Assemblies with Rayflex Friction Material". Surface scratches or gouges are acceptable as long as the scratches and gouges can be removed by the machining process.
