FMI 14 - Special Instruction

This diagnostic code is recorded when the Machine control module (MCM) software does not match Autonomous Control Module (Auto ECM) #1.

Test Step 1. CHECK THE AUTONOMOUS CONTROL MODULE (AUTO ECM) #1 FOR PROPER CONFIGURATION AND SOFTWARE.

1. Verify that the ECM autonomy parameters are correct.

2. Verify that the version of software used, is compatible.

   Note: Consult your Cat Dealer for the correct part numbers of the flash software.

Expected Result:

The configuration is correctly entered. The proper version of software is installed.

Results:

• OK - ECM configuration is correct and the version of software is compatible. Proceed to test step 2.

• NOT OK - ECM configuration is not correct or the proper software is not installed.

  Repair: Correct the ECM configuration or if needed, flash the proper software to the ECM. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS3692, "Procedure to Flash an Electronic Control Module". Cycle the keyswitch in order to initialize new software. Ensure that the diagnostic code is no longer active.

  STOP

Test Step 2. CHECK THE MCM FOR PROPER CONFIGURATION AND SOFTWARE.

1. Use Cat ET to determine that the machine serial number, entered in the MCM, is correct.

2. Verify that the MCM configuration parameters are correct.

3. Verify that the version of software used, is compatible.

   Note: Consult your Cat Dealer for the correct part numbers of the flash software.

Expected Result:

The serial number and configuration are correctly entered. The proper version of software is installed.

Results:

• OK - MCM configuration is correct and the version of software is compatible.

  STOP

• NOT OK - MCM configuration is not correct or the proper software is not installed.

  Repair: Correct the MCM configuration or if needed, flash the proper software to the MCM. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS3692, "Procedure to Flash an Electronic Control Module". Cycle the keyswitch in order to initialize new software. Ensure that the diagnostic code is no longer active.
