Engine News SEBD9916, 05 December 2013, "New Valve Spring Assemblies Are Used for Certain G3500 Engines and Power Modules". Disregard the previous article, the serial number effectivity has been updated.

Description of Change: The new valve spring assemblies are more robust.

Adaptable To: The new valve spring assemblies replace the former valve spring assemblies in the above engines.

The new valve spring assemblies are adaptable to the above engines back to first production.

The new components in the new (415) cylinder heads are dimensionally different compared to the old (315) cylinder heads.

Therefore, when replacing parts on a cylinder head, it is critical that the parts match the cylinder head groups the parts were designed for.

Note: The new valve spring assemblies can be installed on the (315) cylinder head groups and (415) cylinder head groups.Individual parts listed in Table 2 cannot be interchanged between the old (315) cylinder head groups and the new (415) cylinder head groups. All components in a cylinder head must be changed together.

However, it is acceptable to have a mix of new cylinder heads and old cylinder heads on an engine.

NOTICE

Mixing parts from old and new heads creates a high probability of valve train component failure, major piston ring liner damage, and high repair cost.

All components in a cylinder head must be changed together.

The new cylinder head gp and former cylinder head gp are listed in Table 1.
