Engine News SEBD9858, 27 March 2013, "New Exhaust Valve Stem Seals and Rotocoils Are Available for Certain 3512B, 3512C, and 3516B Pleasure Craft Engines". The article was revised to add serial numbers.

The new valve stem seals and rotocoils help to improve oil control across the exhaust valve stems.

The new parts are listed in Table 1.

Note: The parts were designed exclusively for use with certain 3500 engines used in pleasure craft applications.

The new rotocoil is designed to accommodate the clearance for the new exhaust stem seal. The new exhaust stem seal and the new rotocoil must be used together.

Monitor the inlet air temperature for engines with the new valve stem seals. A minimum temperature of 10° C (50° F) is recommended for the air supply to the engine air cleaners during engine operation. The new valve stem seals are not suitable for colder ambient temperatures.

Before ordering the parts, provide the engine serial number to your Caterpillar Marine Power Systems Product Support Representative, who will verify the serial number. The parts will be released after the verification.
