Cylinder Liner - Remove and Install

( 1 ) 373-1438 Cylinder Pack Puller is an optional Tool for removing the cylinder liner.
( 2 ) For use in EAME
( 3 ) 6V-9448 Cylinder Pack Puller is the Tool for removing C15 cylinder liners.

Start By:

  1. Remove the pistons and connecting rods.

  1. Use Tooling (A) to remove cylinder liner (1) .

  1. Remove liner seals (3) and filler band (2) from cylinder liner (1) .

Installation Procedure

  1. Check the cylinder liner projection. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Cylinder Liner Projection - Inspect".

  1. Install liner seals (3) on cylinder liner (1) .

    Note: Do not use oil, grease, or Vaseline as a rubber lubricant on the lower liner seals.

  1. Apply Tooling (C) on the cylinder block liner bore surfaces and liner seals (3) .

  1. Dip filler band (2) in clean engine oil for a moment. Install the filler band on the cylinder liner immediately.

  1. Use Tooling (B) to install cylinder liner (1) in the cylinder block. Ensure that any marks in relation to the cylinder liner projection are in alignment.

End By: Install the pistons and connecting rods.
